the project

Summer is amongst us again, and our camp is back for another year!  This year, our campers will be embarking on an amazing journey, learning to sew and produce an entire Fashion and Art Show!

Through the duration of camp, campers will learn to sew many items starting with simple items such as teddy bears and eventually learning to design their own clothing items!  While learning to sew and recycle clothes (YES, let's save the environment!!!!), they will also be creating an art portfolio.  We will have special guests including fashion designers, graduate students studying fashion, business entrepreneurs and more!

Students will go through a money management course with one of Cleveland's favorite accountants and learn how to manage a budget.  Through our Teen Girls Workshop, the teens will mentor the younger campers as they design and create a Fashion and Art Show experience from top to bottom as they learn how to be an entrepreneur selling their art and designs while raising money for our Annual Back to School Rally!

Please support our youth in donating to this amazing cause!  Please follow us on social media to learn more about our Fashion Show details! The show is planned to take place on Friday July 28th!

why we're doing it

This project has a social, economic and environmental issue in our community.  Social as campers will learn to work together to create a masterpiece!  Economic as they will create a show budget and learn how to manage their money.  They will also learn about entrepreneurship through the lease of an artist as they create their very own art porfolios. This helps solve an environmental issue as we will learn about "Fast Fashion" and how different designers recycle or don't recycle their unsold clothing items.  We will be using donated items to re-purpose clothing items and contribute to less waste in our world.
