The Pakistani Cultural Garden has been working for the past 6 years to complete the first phase of our construction project. We are very blessed and humbled to have completed this very arduous task. We are now gearing up to start phase two of the project, the construction of the replica of the Miner-a-Pakistan, This is a great undertaking. It will require a lot of work. Luckily we have a great architectural firm who has chosen a very experienced artist to work with. This will help to make the process as smooth as possible.
The Second Phase of our project is to create a mini replica of an historical site known as the Miner-a-Pakistan. This was the place our constitution was signed. It symbolizes the birth of our nation and is a testament to the struggles our people endured to gain our independence. The construction of our monument will be a symbol of pride and inspiration to all Pakistanis that visit our garden. It will serve to cement the importance of representing our culture in the city of Cleveland. We will then take our place and stand side by side with all the other cultures that are represented in the hundred year old institution that is the Cleveland Cultural Garden.
the steps
The first step of the process will be to create architectural drawings and blueprints. The artist will submit his vision to the architect for consideration and review. This will then be used to create architectural drawings. After much discussion and review these will be used to create blueprints.
why we're doing it
The purpose of creating a Pakistani Cultural Garden within the larger Cleveland Cultural Gardens has always been so that we have representation of our culture here in Northeast Ohio. We are a relatively small minority in this area. As our numbers increase we want Ohioans to become familiar with us as a people with a rich and vital heritage and culture. Currently Northeast Ohioans look at Pakistanis, at the very least, as 'the unknown' or, as as is more common, 'someone to be feared' With the increase of knowledge about us, our culture and the contributions we have made to society, they may see us as someone they might want to connect with and be more open to have a dialogue and exchange ideas. All this will promote a a better understanding between friends, neighbors and colleagues.
