The number of safe places in Memphis where people experiencing homeless can rest during the day are inadequate, leaving them exposed to the violence of the streets as well as the elements in the summer and the winter. The Plaza Phase One is activated with a shade structure, lockers, bathrooms, water, electrical outlets, seating. Individuals feel at home in the well-maintained and beautifully designed Plaza. Plaza Phase Two has been designed through a partnership with Nature Sacred involving community input that will create healing, natural spaces. The Plaza is staffed with trained outreach workers and case managers that work with individuals to identify and implement the steps to move out of homelessness.
